“Death to the Crown Prince” .. Demonstrations in Iran in protest against the shooting down of the Ukrainian plane

Dozens of Iranians demonstrated in Tehran on Saturday to denounce the Iranian Revolutionary Guards shooting down a Ukrainian passenger plane flying over the sky in Tehran last Wednesday.

Videos of Iranian activists showed protesters gathered in front of a university in Tehran, chanting the slogan “death for the crown prince” and calling on the Revolutionary Guards to leave Iran alone.

But despite this recognition, Iran insisted on prevarication. Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif wrote on Twitter that her crash was the result of a human error and the “American tendency to adventure”.

The flight “PS 752” of the Ukrainian international airlines crashed on Wednesday night, west of Tehran, shortly after take off. The crash killed all 176 of its passengers, most of whom were Iranian Iranians, but also Afghans, Britons, Swedes, and Ukrainians.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau called for “transparency” to conduct a “full and thorough investigation” until responsibilities are identified, while Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelinsky called for punishment of the guilty and compensation.
