The US Navy denies that any threats are behind the return of an aircraft carrier to the Gulf

The US Navy denied that the return of the USS Nimitz aircraft carrier to the Gulf region is linked to the threats resulting from the assassination of an Iranian nuclear scientist.

A spokeswoman for the US Fifth Fleet, Rebecca Rebaric, said in a statement that there were no specific threats that led to the return of the USS Nimitz attack group. She added that Nimitz’s return is centered on Centcom’s ability to remain in a state of readiness and readiness to maintain regional stability and security.

The Pentagon said earlier that the group would provide combat support and air cover with the withdrawal of thousands of American soldiers from Iraq and Afghanistan in mid-January.
